I'm using the online version of the Hysplit model to study a wildfire, and I'm unsure about the "release type" selection. Should I choose "prescribed burn" or "unknown material" for a more accurate simulation of the wildfire event?
For "unknown material," it is assumed that the material is a gas or small enough particles that do not settle due to gravity over the duration of the run. However, for "prescribed burn," PM2.5 emissions are specifically calculated.
Any advice from those experienced with Hysplit for wildfire analysis would be greatly appreciated!
